It is important to note that if you want to keep your memory sharp, it will be important to maintain your vision. One of the best ways to help your vision will be to find ways to reduce stress and learn to relax.
It seems that vision and mental focus go hand and hand and neither will work well if you are under a lot of stress. So finding a way to inner peace, a way to relax and let go of stress will be something important to accomplish if you want better vision and better memory.
Test the Condition of Your Eyes
One way to find out how well your eyes are working is to perform an exercise. In this exercise the goal will be to maintain a visual image for as long as you possibly can. Here are the steps:
- Cover one eye with your hand and glance quickly at a letter on the page with your other eye.
- Now, close your eyes and try to hold that image in your mind for as long as possible.
- Next, count how many seconds that image actually stays clear in your mind before finely becoming darkness.
- Remember the length of time that took.
- Now, repeat with the other eye.
The next part of the exercise is to take a few minutes, relax and they try the other eye. A good way to relax is closing your eyes and visualizing something pleasant such as a vacation or person you adore.
You will want to focus on the darkness and not think about anything else going on around you. After a few minutes, open your eyes and try the exercise again with the other eye.
The idea is that you will get different results as the image should stay longer with you the second time around. If this doesn’t happen then you may need to find some relaxing exercises for your eyes that can help remove the strain.
Having good vision results in good memory. We can’t see the image without vision and the more clearly that we are able to see the image, the better we will be at recalling the image later.
It is important that we focus on positive events as this helps keep the mind relaxed and our eyes free of strain. Something this is important especially since so many of us stare at a computer screen for many hours a day!
Another great exercise you can do is one while lying in bed. Again you will want to focus on something positive that happened to you that day. Try to view the event in as much detail and color as you possibly can. Focus on the positive as you clear your mind and relax your body.
Not only will this help to improve your vision, you just might get a better night’s sleep as well!
